Facts On Pool Table Refelting Denver

By Christa Jarvis

For the past many years, there have been many forms of the game of pool in existence. The fact that there have been various changes to the materials that the game is comprised has not had an effect on the felt cover. It is one aspect that has remained the same over time. However, it has a short lifetime that means it has to be replaced over and over after some time. In consideration of pool table refelting Denver residents should be acquainted with the basic of the procedure.

Some of the needed materials for the exercise are felts, socket wrench, felt, cleanser, rag, hammer and a staple gun among others. To begin with, the staples that surround the pockets at the underside of the table are removed. There is then removal of the nails that secure the rails to the underside using a socket wrench. On an approximate basis, one needs to look for three bolts for each rail.

After all the bolts have been removed, the rails will need to be taken off. This will be followed by detaching of the pocket liners. The staples that attach the felt to rail cushions will have to be pulled out. Felt covering the cushions will then need to be removed, after which it gets removed from the table top. At this stage, one has to determine if the felt gets glued or stapled, or both. The staples that are hold the felt are removed using a staple puller. Removal of the glued felt is supposed to be done very gently.

It will be then time to prepare the slate for re-felting. Pool table wax is used for filling in all holes and cracks. After letting the wax harden for one minute, the excess gets scrapped off using a putty knife. A gentle cleanser is then used for cleaning the surface of the slate. Before getting covered with the felt, the surface has to be left to dry completely.

The felt pieces that are being used will need to be measured. This will ensure that they are cut in accordance to the dimensions of the table. Edges of the felt are aligned flush with the table edges. As a matter of fact, the measurements should be very accurately done so that it fits well to the table.

The process of stapling the fabric to the table is an important one. It starts at the center of a short edge and then proceeds to the corners. During all this, one should beware not to get the pockets covered. During placement of the staples, one will need to move in increments of two inches or so. As this is done, the fabric is pulled taut. The procedure is repeated for all sides.

There is trimming of excess fabric from the pockets. On an approximate basis, three inches of the fabric are left at the inner edges. What follows is pushing of the fabric to the pockets such that all pocket sides are lined.

The rails are then wrapped with felt. The unique design of the rails is observed to know how large the felt piece has to be. There is then reattaching the rails to the table. Finally, the pockets and liners will be replaced as necessary.
