How To Clean Your Stuffable Animals

By Tracie Knight

Most of us love having stuffed toys. They are one of those valuable things we own. They remind us of all those moments that it represent. There are some that brings back those happy memories.

Just like your things you need to take care of it. Stuffable animals need to be cleaned once in a while. It needs to be cleaned to maintain its appearance. If you keep them maintained, they will last for many years. Here are some steps on how you could clean them properly.

If they become dirty, check first if the toys have care instructions from the manufacturer on its labels. You should follow these instructions as these are the proper ones you should do. Care instructions differ depending on the material it is made of. There are those who have fur coats made from materials which are synthetic just like polyester. There are also those who have a natural material just like wool which is covering their body.

Have some baking soda. Sprinkle some of the baking soda to the animals. The baking soda will keep them fresh for some time. Leave the soda there for about fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes, brush it off. Do not put too much force on brushing it as you may damage your animal.

Get the vacuum and turn it on. Use the hose attachment of the vacuum to softly vacuum the dust particles and those dirt off the toy. Keep doing that every week. Ensure that there will be no objects which could get sucked off from the toy. One of these objects could be their loose eyes, their ribbon or bows.

If it has some soiled parts, you need to get rid of that too. Remove it with the use of mild all purpose cleaner and sponge. If the parts are heavily soiled, use some scrub to gently brush it off that part. If there are some spots and stain you wanted to remove, you may use some rubbing alcohol for it.

To wash toys on the washing machine needs to be the last option. Check its label again if you could have them wet. There are some of it that get damaged when it get wet so be sure to check that. If you really have to, place all of them one at a time in a pillow case. Use a safety pin to close that pillow case. Wash it on a delicate cycle mode. Add a little fabric conditioner so they would have fluffy coat.

Dry them using a hair dryer. It is best to use a hair dryer rather than your clothes dryer since your stuffed things are really sensitive. You should also be careful not to get them to be too close to the hair dryer. If you do not have a dryer, you can just let it dry on air. It will just take you several days to get them dried but that would be that best option if you do not want them to be damaged.

These stuffed things are also our valuable things. There are people who consider it as part of the family. Just like a family, one needs to keep taking care of them.
