The patterns of using ornaments vary greatly depending on the category of the individuals that are involved. This can be in terms of age, sex, or culture. The purpose of wearing jewelry can involve the artistic display or for beauty. These ornaments are either attached on the body or on the clothes. Those that are used on the body can either be placed naturally like the necklace or they might require some body modification. Modification that is majorly involved includes the body piercing to allow the use of earring and other rings that are embedded to the body.

The personal or the social status of a person can be displayed by the type of ornaments that they are wearing. The social status can involve the wedding, or circumcision. During these social functions a person can be presented with a particular ornament to symbolize that they have successfully undergone the transition.

Most of the western countries use the ring as a symbol of the wedding commitment. During the wedding ceremony the parties that are involved place a ring in the finger of each other to always remind them of this commitment that they have towards each other. Anytime the other member is swayed astray the ring will always assist them in making the right decision for the sake of their marriage. It is therefore the symbol for the covenant that they enter into.

Those individuals who use these ornament are violating the commands are bound to be punished ultimately. To avoid any punishment that is attached to the religious beliefs they posses, many people avoid the use of these decorative used for personal adornment. However there are religions that as well condone the use of some of these ornaments.
