X-Factor Star Jahmene Craves US Idol

By Johnson Brierley

Much loved X-factor contestant Jahmene Douglas believes he would be better suited to American Idol than X Factor, - because the UK talent show isn't really about singing at all - despite now being the bookies favourite to win this year's competition.

Despite starting the audition process as a painfully shy 21 year old, Jahmene has flourished on our screens over the past weeks to the point where he is now confident in speaking out against the show that bought him to global attention.

Gary Barlow shares Jahmene's view, stating that: "I often watch the American shows and I'm often quite jealous. The singers are so great on there I always feel a little bit jealous because our singers are never quite as gooduntil you came along."

Well not Gary Barlow, that's for sure, who publicly spoke out in defence of Jahmene, remarking that the singers on American Idol are always so good compared to the ones on X-factor, before continuing to state that since Jahmene has come along he is no longer jealous of the American show's talent.

But as anyone worth their salt will tell you, you have to take advantages of opportunities in life when they present themselves - something which Jahmene has certainly done - and he now certainly seems to be at ease in the public eye, this week hanging out with Nicole Scherzinger at his local ASDA store.

In the last show Jahmene topped the digital spy best singer poll for the first time - following on from his second place finish last week - after taking over 31% of the votes for his cover version of Beyonce's 'Listen' from the hit movie 'Dreamgirls'.

A week is a long time in showbiz, with trends coming and going with the changing of the tide, but Jahmene seems to have a star quality about him that keeps growing and increasing his appeal along with his fan base - regardless of whether his heart is really in the competition.

But aside from whether or not anyone will remember his name this time next year, let's just hope that the show and the incredible exposure that he has received over these past weeks has done nothing to distort or corrupt his world view, and that he is still able to keep his feet planted on solid ground.
