Abstract Art Paintings Express Emotion In A Unique Way

By Ava McCormick

To be able to create abstract art paintings takes a solid background in art, and the ability to create a piece that represents the intangible. A person must be extremely creative to be able to do this. Moreover, as is true with other art forms, they must know that their piece may ultimately be misunderstood.

This kind of art allows the intangible to be expressed. It is a heady challenge to be able to do this successfully. Sadness can be portrayed with a frown on one's face. All who see it would know that person is not happy. When this emotion is shown through abstract art it goes a step beyond and makes a person actually feel sad.

In this art, the emotion itself must be depicted. Seeing red is not enough because the color red can also represent passion and love. When painting anger it cannot just be a color. It has to have motion and be more explosive.

The challenge to create an emotion in a tangible way is a difficult one. This kind of art needs motion and supporting hues to successfully present a feeling. Every emotion is alive and so to the painting must feel as if it has life.

Emotions are not the only thing that this kind of artist can portray. Sound is another choice. Sound however does evoke emotion so this is just another means to an end product. If a person can open their mind they will realize that sound is actually emotion as well.

A spiritual experience can be painted in this way as well. This has the potential of taking the reality of something and giving it a higher meaning. It transcends what can be seen by the naked eye and takes it to a new level.

Because of the different experiences that make up a person's life, they may not see the painting as the artist intended for them to. However, if the piece evokes emotion then the painting is still effective. The visual of emotion is tantamount no matter what the emotion being evoked is.

Those who do not understand the process of what the artist is trying to do may think that a child could do a better job. It is an interesting observation because in truth children tend to create from raw emotion. When someone feels this way, it is a compliment of sorts to the artist.

If a person is interested in trying this art form a great way to start is to listen to music. Choose a song without words and see what comes into the mind. Then try to create that sound on paper with colors and motion. People are often surprised by what they are able to create and this process gives them a greater understanding of the art.

To fully enjoy art one needs to be immersed in it. Giving the art form a chance by doing it is a great way to understand it. Abstract art paintings will become clearer and more understandable if one does this.
