By Barber Paul

Let's come clean, big phones aren't for everybody. If you are in the market for a small and compact on ear headphones, then you should check out the Skullcandy Lowrider. The brand is well known for its big and loud phones, but these headphones in the Lowrider line is made to be graceful and compressable for mobile users.

Earphones for Mobile Users

Are you always on the go? Well, even when you're not, you'd potentially appreciate the Lowrider can be folded up and kept in your bag or purse when not in use. These Skullcandy earphones feature a ultra-portable fold-up headband and some models even include a travel pouch. As you have probably noticed, the Lowrider Skullcandy line is insignificant in comparison to the brand's bigger lines like the Hesh and Skullcrusher.

Sound Quality

The Lowrider's smaller size doesn't reduce its sound quality though. Like its bigger brothers from the brand, the Skullcandy Lowrider feature neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) magnet speakers, with a frequency reply range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, an impedance of 32 Ohms, plus gold-plated 3.5 mm plugs. It has smaller power drivers (40 mm) compared against a Skullcandy Hesh (50 mm), though it's still capable of producing high volume sound output.

Construction and Design

The Skullcandy Lowrider is created with a extremely hard plastic frame with leather headband and ear cushions. The frame enables the headphones to flex when it's desired while the cushions allow for more comfy use. Some users note though that you are going to need to exercise some caution when using these earphones since it is susceptible to breaking at the point where it folds. Other users say that your ears can get a little hot if you use the Lowrider earphones for too long a period.

If you're looking for a particular style or colour, then your luck is in. This line of phones comes in such a wide range of choice that you'd have no problem finding one that is a match for your tastes. It comes in plain colours, color mixes, and even Rasta, among other designs. Some Skullcandy Lowrider earphones are made for gaming use, so those are kitted out with mics.

Overall, the Skullcandy Lowrider is a good choice for basic level phones. It's very reasonable and produces decent sound quality so worth for money-wise, it offers a pretty good deal.
