One of the most remembered music synthesizers in this world today is the Korg M1. It was produced in the late 1970 but has become the most loved music producing unit; it is preferred by most musicians as compared to others such as Yamaha. It is still the most sold music workstation up to today. The sales during the early years enable Korg Corporation to acquire part of Yamaha.
This unit has a maximum of sixteen polyphony which when it is made into a double oscillator, it reduces to half of that (eight). The interaction between the two oscillators does not exist thus it had to run two of them in a parallel system.
One of the advantages that it had was that it had many polyphony notes compared to other workstations thus production of sound was comprehensive.
The Korg unit has sampled music and sounds that are stored in the memory of the unit. It contains of an internal memory of 4 megabytes which were used to store the sounds. Most of them are even still in use up to today. It incorporated two presets in it sampling method. All this meant that the filter needed to have been made in a way that it offered no resonance.
Combi, as it was popularly known was a combination of several programs or patches that could play simultaneously. These were played at several velocity areas or even keys. All this was made possible by the M1 unit. Very complicated sounds could thus be played through the keyboard and the MIDI, since the unit allowed.
The Korg M1 had one of the best sequencers. It gave the authorization for full track editing, this made it very possible to produce very high quality songs by only using the machine. It also offered two effects which were independent of each other, these included the flanger, delay and even the chorus. The earlier systems had not been able to do this.
