You Should Know The Acceptable Requirements A Modeling Agency In Nashville Can Expect At Signing

By Christine Allen

Becoming a famous model is a common daydream of young girls. It rarely becomes a reality however. There are unscrupulous companies that will exploit this desire, offering promises of fame and fortune, if the youngsters agree to certain stipulations. They may entice kids to enter into bogus contracts. If you have been offered a contract from a modeling agency in Nashville, you need to make sure it is legitimate.

Agencies that expect you to pay money up front should be viewed with a lot of skepticism. It's not customary to pay a signing or handling fee before you get a contract. It can be a temptation when you really want to believe the agency will help you, but it probably won't be worth the price. Real agencies make their money from the fees they charge for your job assignments. The rate is usually around fifteen percent.

Once you are under contract, it should not be your responsibility to pay for test shots. Agents have the professional photographer and makeup artist contacts, and they should be the ones to hire them to get you ready for a shoot. You have some responsibility. You must be punctual, polite, and cooperative.

If an agent suggests that you can advance your career quickly by posing in the nude or in suggestive clothing, you need to leave immediately. Legitimate agencies don't allow inexperienced models to pose for shots that require expertise and age to pull off. Bikini and lingerie shots are okay, if you are comfortable, as long as they are not too risque.

Sometimes small or local agencies put a clause in their contracts requiring their models to repay a portion, or all, of the financial investment the company made in them. This repayment should not start until the model is established and getting jobs. When you are going to have to pay back money, it must be in the contract that you signed.

It's not uncommon for agencies to want to change the look of new models. This is not a cause for concern. It happens for a lot of reasons. You may have signed with an agency that specializes in providing a certain type of model. They may want you to conform more closely to that image. Some photo shoots require a particular look from the models. The agency could tell you to change temporarily to accommodate a client.

Traveling is probably going to be required if you plan on having a successful modeling career. Agencies have a right to expect you to travel to locations for shoots. If you refuse to travel, you will probably be sabotaging your career, and you might be in violation of your contract. Most models consider travel to be a real perk.

A few models have careers that bring them fame and fortune. The majority of working models are relatively unknown. All of them work for reputable agencies. Boys and girls who sign with unscrupulous agents are headed for big let downs, financially, and emotionally, instead of great careers.
