Things To Consider When Buying Your Best Oil Painting Reproductions

By Misty Tyler

There is something great about paintings that make them beautiful ornaments in our living rooms. If before only people of high social status can afford to buy a painting, now the product is made so commercial that anyone who has the idea of what he wants, and who can pay for an artist can have it.

Now, owning a replica of works by popular painters like Van Gogh, Monet and Da Vinci is within reach. Cities around the world have businesses that focus on selling the best oil painting reproductions to the public. If you look around, you should be able to see some.

But before you go ahead and make your purchase, you have to be well versed as to the things you have to consider. You cannot just buy anything just because it looks good to you. You have to make sure that they are indeed of good quality despite being a replica of the original art. Here are the things you should include on your list.

Type of canvas. While the image painted on it is still the main attraction, you cannot set aside the importance of the canvas used in making it. The wrong choice of canvas may affect the durability of the material. Those paintings done on premium type canvas are proven to be of best quality and can blend easily with the paint that the artist is using.

Size. For it to look like the original thing, it should be as huge or as small as the real deal. There are some who might offer a more affordable deal but in the expense of a smaller size of the painting. This is also fine. But if you want to achieve a more realistic appeal to the material, then going for the exact size is a great option.

Process used. By process, we mean hand painting. Now that the digital world has offer us easier means to print and designs photos, replicating an image digitally is also made easier. You do not want this. Reproducing an image electronically will not have a similar effect to the one that is made using quality oil points. Before you buy, make it a point to ask the retailer the process by which it is made.

Overall appearance. Even if it is just a reproduction, you want it to look as close as the original one. The good news is, there are many talented painters in the market who are capable of addressing this. Take a look at the original image and then compare it to the replica. If you are satisfied with what you see, then it should be a good pick.

Price. You also need to take note of your budget. You cannot just simply set aside the fact that even reproductions, when done using high quality products will still cost high. Find the best deal.

Aside from being unique, paintings are sought after because of the emotions that they evoke to the audience. Pick one that captures your attention most. Do not hesitate to ask for second opinion if need be.
