Tips For Making Instrumental Rap Beats

By Gloria Mason

Instrumental rap beats may not be immediately noticeable since they are generally used as a background but these can be a good addition. If you are an artist raring to come up with a big hit using these beats, then you need to do a little preparation. The following are some helpful tips to help you come up with a good song.

Invest in good equipment if you want to produce something of quality. Hits are not made with the cheapest instruments. This will affect the sound quality and you may be limited to certain sounds if you do not have the right instruments. Carefully consider what should be added to your collection so you can make good music.

Do study the genre. Just like the blues, country, and other such music, each genre has its own sound. Before you attempt to create a tune of your own, you should take the time to study the beginnings of this genre and how it has evolved from there. This will give you a greater understanding of the music and will enhance your skill.

It can be beneficial to study the recognized artists in these genre, especially those that consistently make it to the charts. You might be able to learn something new and learn how they became so successful. Keep in mind however that you should make something new and not create music that sound like what they did.

This is the time to get creative. Make several versions by using different combinations of beats, utilizing different timing, and so on. Think of how you can make each piece different and integrate this into the tune. Listen to the versions you have created a number of times and pick out a piece that works best.

Check the lyrics before beginning the creative process. The lyrics will tell you what the mood of the song is like. If you find that the words are lonely, then do your best to set the corresponding mood with the sound. By ensuring that all the elements are working together, the song has a huge impact on the listener.

You can also add some special effects to make the piece even more interesting. There is no denying that you can come up with a really good piece using these elements but one should not be too dependent on these effects. Sometimes, these can also distort the sound so that the overall effect is no longer pleasing.

As an artist, you will have to push you boundaries. You can grow by exploring new styles and different techniques. If you find yourself utilizing the same methods every time so that your output starts to have similar sounds, then it is time to start looking for something new. Consider collaborating and see what happens.

Coming up with good instrumental rap beats can be hard but you will need to do your best if you want to stand out. There will be a lot of competition from other artists. Study the genre and practice whenever you can so you can hone your skills.
