Music Industry : Why They Don't Need Super Music Producers Anymore ?

By Lindsay Major

During the early 2000's, the music industry, principally the communities of hiphop and rnb, saw the arising of what we call the "super music producers", accounting for leaders: Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins or even The Neptunes.

What exactly is a "super producer"? Well, the finest definition of their difference with a "simple" producer would certainly take on the example of what we call a "supermodel" in fashion, for instance Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer or Naomi Campbell. You know those legendary fashion models as well as everybody else and you can see all of them on each of the catwalks. To be brief: safe values.

This has been the similar thing in the music business: there have been "big" producers, risk free, that driven completely the projects and were asked by the most universally known singers and also rappers. This was usually much safer for record company to get a well known music producer other than a newcomer. The famous producer delivered a plenty of of award winning singles, in principle. For the reason that at that time big producers sold discs.

But, the music industry, after the beginning of the decade changed. First, many people don't really buy disk any more.

So the record labels invest considerably less budget for a project. And clearly, record companies are not willing to spend between $ 100 000 to $ 300 000 for one single beat, as was the case in the time of the golden time period of music producers. The discs tend to not sell and world wide web develops. To deal with illegitimate downloading of their artists, record companies create or join with statutory download technologies and make sure to force their presence on this online scene, which has been running from their control for such a long time.

But the rise of the web also has permitted the emanation of numerous not known producers as good as, if not superior to, "Super Producers".

A lot of these producers have focused on the developments of the Web, which has facilitated them to sell their beats online. Helping them to communicate and work with performers on any nearby scale as well as a worldwide one. A producer from Sweden can even advertise beats to someone in Japan. It is now faster and easier for them to gain a strong credibility with a career. For the artists, this makes a great difference! They can buy beats online from home for their album, EP or perhaps mixtape for reasonable prices; not really those applied by the "super producers".

Record labels pay a special interest on this new business. They buy beats online as well. And right now we could see that a few internet producers receive signed by majors.

The golden epoch of super producers like the age of super mannequin fades away slowly and gradually, giving way to this modern sector driven by producers who, often, do not have anything to envy to the "super producers".
