Tips For Finding The Perfect Dallas Santa For Hire

By Arthur Murray

If you've been put in charge of entertainment for the big Christmas bash at your child's school or the local community center, you don't have to wrack your brain for anything original. You know what all the kids will be waiting for. An arrival from the North Pole means the man in the red suit is on the premises. It's your job to make sure you find the most perfect Dallas Santa for hire possible.

You might be able to talk a child's dad or grandfather into playing the role, unless you don't trust them to take the job seriously. If no one is available, you will have to get in touch with a talent agency. Santas can't have criminal records, especially when children are involved. Getting the fingerprints of the person you are considering hiring should be easy. The local police station may run the prints for you for free.

Because this is probably going to be one of the biggest events of the year, whatever board chose you to head the entertainment should understand that planning ahead is key. You'll need to start looking at potential Santas well before Halloween. Those who know say that August and September are the months when repeat customers call to make reservations for specific actors. If you wait until November the best performers will already be booked.

When you are entertaining a lot of children, you have to make sure each one gets a chance to sit on the big man's lap, turn over a list, and take a photo. Rental companies say that Santas can handle about fifty kids an hour if necessary, but this doesn't give each one much time on his lap. For smaller gatherings you can figure about four minutes per child.

You aren't supposed to put the big man too close to a fireplace because the suit is hot, and the performer may be sitting in one spot for several hours. It's a good idea to keep your phone with you so you can communicate with the actor before he arrives. This way you'll be able to announce his arrival to the whole room. There are thrones you can rent to give the Mr. Claus a special place.

You might be considering hiring elves and a Mrs. Claus. The professionals say that unless you have a huge space, and a lot of kids, too many characters can be overwhelming. A better idea is to let Santa be the center of attention and hire face painters and balloon artists to keep the youngsters in line occupied.

To make sure your expectations are met, you should know what Santas traditionally do at these kinds of events. They certainly give out presents and have their pictures taken with everyone. They will also lead the group in Christmas carols and read stories.

Taking on the entertainment responsibilities for this kind of event can be nerve wracking. Mr. Claus is an important man in the lives of small children. To avoid traumatizing them with a bad Santa, you must plan ahead and choose wisely.
