A Review Of Impressionist Prints

By Barbara Myers

Not so many people have heard about impressionism, and they do not know what it is. Impressionist prints are a form of painting that uses bright colors that can accurately depict visual reality. It started becoming popular about two centuries ago and has grown to be accepted by many people today. It mostly focuses on modernity compared to the other forms of painting.

The drawings were so revolutionary as they differed from most of the classical or fantastical scenes. This is because of the use of this technique of broken brushstrokes to depict the real life that emphasized the overall impression of a place. They were mostly thought to have an unfinished look. This kind of artistic struggled to be popular.

In ancient days, so many works of these painters that had decided to embrace impressionism were rejected in the exhibitions by the artistry associations. This is because their style differed from the standards of art that had been set. The rejected artistes then decided to create their centers to exhibit their works of art, but the public did not receive them very well.

After some years, one renowned artiste came up with a unique painting which he named impression. He then later began a movement and named it the impressionism which was meant to empower painters. It was however unfortunate that the public badly received the movement, but after several years, they started to embrace the new form of artistry in the society.

This moved to grow as more people started appreciating the art. Then, an association was formed that helped the artists to exhibit their works. During the first exhibition, 30 artists were present, and 165 paintings were showcased. The people who attended the exhibition were approximately 3,500, but there were some of a craftsmen started to leave the exhibitions and chose to paint the classically-accepted drawings. This was a big blow to the painters that remained but they decided not to give up, so they continued to attend the shows.

In later years, many people were now accepting this kind of artistry as they were being impressed by it. It became very influential in that it started defining how people expressed what they feel in the form of art. This made more and more painters to sprout and exhibit their works of art without being afraid of the reaction of public.

At first, people were shocked to see this form of art as they were not used to see paintings that are done in such bright colors. They were used to cool colors because most of the classical painters used golden paints that were thick to tone their paintings down. To add to that, the impressionist painters used liked using colors that were bright and vivid in their drawings.

Usually, most impressionism paintings centered on modernity especially suburbs, but there are others that depicted the rural settings. Some of these artists focused on drawing the daily lives of a local villagers while others focused on landscapes such as railways as well as factories. Therefore, these paintings were a very vivid way of expressing the lives of people.
