Elements In The Work Of Famous Landscape Painters

By Anita Ortega

Famous artists all choose their own way of working with space. This results in a style that makes it easy to identify their paintings. With some, there is a degree of abstraction because they prefer to interpret space in new ways. Monet, Turner and Kiefer are just a few creative people who integrated romantic ideals and reflections on the weaknesses of human beings in their compositions.

Artists who work on pieces such as these always try to identify what makes a scene interesting and focus on that in their work. People all around the world like to view the art of famous landscape painters. In this way, people may continue to enjoy beautiful scenery while they are indoors. Many of the great pieces that were created many years ago allow us to experience scenes as they were several years ago.

A painter may utilize a composition like this as a means of communicating with color. In European art, more emphasis is placed on exploring the beauty of all sorts of tints. Asian art traditionally played around with tones of the same color, when it came to images of mountains, rivers and the countryside in general.

Color also influences how viewers perceive the nature of a specific element in a painting. For example, if something is rendered in orange, we tend to attribute certain qualities to it. Bright shades draw attention and in this way, artists can lead viewers of their artwork to attach more prominence to specific objects such as trees or buildings.

Just the presence of man made objects can indicate how old a painting really is. As mankind has branched out more into nature with skyscrapers, bridges and railway lines, glimpses of these can be seen in paintings. The work of the old masters had less of these objects than we can see in contemporary art.

Landscape painters are sometimes thought of as artists who just create pretty pictures but this is far from the reality. They may put visual symbols together in a way that highlights the negative aspects of the history of a nation. They may celebrate the core spiritual values of a country as well, just by their focus on particular elements of nature.

Some of the popular Chinese and Japanese artists used various techniques to bring mountains closer to the viewer. By using details on these faraway objects, they focused more attention on them. Wyeth is also well known for using lots of details in his work and that has made his paintings more remarkable. Over time, he spent less time on color and worked to emphasize details in glass or blades of grass.

Beautiful landscape paintings allows us to reflect of many things. Artists such as Pippin did not focus only on landscapes but their work in this area is still outstanding. People may enjoy more of what they offer by viewing their work in museums and galleries worldwide.
