Interesting Information About Conspiracy Documentaries

By Nita McKinney

There is something in the human character that loves intrigue. There are many topics that fit this genre. Examples of popular subjects are presidential assassinations, extraterrestrial beings from other planets, or the 9/11 truth movement. There is even a website dedicated to conspiracy documentaries.

Stories about the Illuminati is the progenitor the genre. The Illuminati is a cabal of men who run the entire world behind the scenes in secrecy. The origins of this myth are not clear. Most likely it came from the Freemasonry movement, but there are various permutations of the story. Supposedly, the Illuminati are in control of the international banking systems and, at the same time, are communists who desire to install a one world government.

The destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 has fueled the 9/11 truth movement. It is not entirely clear what this movement believes. Sometimes it sounds as if they are accusing the United State government as being behind the attack. Other times it sounds like they are claiming that terrorists committed the attack, but the government knew about it and did nothing to stop it. They claim that physical evidence from the sites proves that a jet airliner crashing into the building could not have caused the twin towers to come down.

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy has been the focus of many different theories. The Warren Commission spent 10 months investigating the assassination and concluded that it was an act of a single shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald. Most Americans reject the notion that this murder was committed by one person with no accomplices. The House Select Committee on Assassinations revisited the Kennedy assassination in 1979. They concluded that this plot was probably a conspiracy. However, they never specified the exact details of the plot.

Most theories share common characteristics. A secret, mysterious cabal, whose members are the real rulers of the world, is keeping the truth from the public. No matter how ridiculous or unlikely any theory is, there are those who, not only believe it, but will proselytize their beliefs like it was a religion.

Human beings are uncomfortable living in a chaotic world where violence is unpredictable. A story that explains why horrible things happen helps people deal with tragic events. It brings some logic and sense to things that have no logic or sense. People have more peace of mind when bad things can be explained. People do not like unanswered questions.

This is not a new phenomenon. By controlling the population's emotions, political institutions and leaders can maintain political power. Often it is powerful institutions that are disseminating the stories as a means of control, to consolidate power, and ensure their political dominance.

For fans of these tales of plots and machinations, a website that specializing in conspiracy documentaries is a treasure trove of mysterious stories and entertainment. You do not have to totally believe in everything you read or hear. But it can certainly get you thinking that everything in this world might not be really what it appears to be.
