Common Rules In Attending A Popular Cycling Events

By Janelle Burnett

There are several rules that one will have to follow when he is attending the Michigan cycling events. It is a must for him to follow these rules, even when they are not explicitly told to the participants just for the sake of showing his respect to the other cyclists. Here are some of the unwritten rules that he must follow as a cyclist.

First up, he has to get a suitable helmet for it. There are some people who dislikes wearing a helmet since they think that it is lame. However, this is the best way for him to avoid getting any concussions and injuries to his head when he gets into an accident while on the road.

It is also a good idea for the person to pay attention to his legs. Every cyclist have a reason why they need to shave their legs for an event. Some cyclist will shave their legs due to aerodynamics, for a massage or for wound care. However, the basic is usually to make it look smoother.

His jersey will have to be carefully picked out. It is important that it is well-matched with his shorts, his arm warmers, and his socks. Be sure not to pick those jersey that are similar to a pro team kit or a national team kit. Only those who were given the right to wear it should use the said kit.

Another thing that he has to think about is the iPod. It is actually a good idea for the person to find a good MP3 player that he can wear while he is riding a bike. The iPod is actually the best choice when it comes to a cool on-board music system. There are some things that one will have to consider when wearing this, though.

Make sure that he does not use his iPod when he is riding in a group. There is nothing that will make him be disliked by the other cyclists than wearing iPod. This will only give off a message that he is not going to care about his own safety much less the safety of others. This will just complicate the entire journey.

Speaking of group rides, there are other etiquette that one will have to consider. It is a rule of the thumb that the riders in a group ride should never ride for more than two abreast. There must be no more than six inches distance between his front wheel and the rear wheel of the cyclist in front of him. Only follow the instructions of the one in front of the pack.

Know more about the carbon wheels. Truth be told, this is one of those wheels that the person can use for racing. Since this is the case, he should already know that the carbon wheel is not a suitable wheel for training. What he needs for the training is a strong and heavy wheels.

It is absolutely fine for the person to include ornaments and accessories on his bicycle during any of the Michigan cycling events. He should just see to it that there are no stuffed animals nor figurines mounted on the handlebars. There should be no reflectors as well.
