Halloween Costumes: Poison Ivy

Halloween is a fascinating season. Not only for kids but in addition, for grownups likewise. After all, what person doesn't enjoy getting decked out as his or her favorite ghoul, goblin, super hero, or bad guy, and get out trick-or-treating or to a Halloween celebration. Halloween can be an celebration famous throughout the world and in virtually every nation since there are seasonal and religious associations which are extensive. It 's been around for nearly 500 years.

There's some supposition around the beginning of Halloween(not the name) but the celebration. Various researchers link it to the Roman feast of Pomona, who was the goddess of fruits and seeds. Others believe it started as Parentalia, the "festival of the dead". It is even so, more often linked to the Celtic festival referred to as Samhain, a Gaelic celebration that celebrates the end of summer time.

Obviously the name "Halloween" is far more famously connected to the Scottish variance of "All-Hallows-Eve", or, the night preceding All-Hallows-Day or All Saints day. It arose in 1556, and over the generations All-Hallows-Eve became Halloween. Halloween is October 31st, and is commemorated globally, though cultures observe during this date. Certain areas celebrate on the 2nd Tuesday in December.

Halloween has a great deal of symbolism and imagery which has changed over the years many cultures and movements have contributed to it. Most significantly are the Jack-o'-lantern, Dracula, ghosts, death, evil, and dark scary themes. Black and orange are Halloween's official colors. Halloween has spawned an entire industry of costume manufacturers and every year the latest craze of popular movies and characters contributes to offerings.

There are also countless activities that have become customs of Halloween. Trick-or-treating has become the most preferred. Kids around the globe get dressed up and go house to house within their neighborhoods gathering candy and sweets. There are Halloween celebrations, prank playing, games that include bobbing for apples, and attending haunted houses & graveyards.

Favorite foods at Halloween are candy or caramel apples, candy corn, popcorn, apple cider, and baked pumpkin seeds. Many other cultures have traditional foods they prepare such as Ireland's barmbrack that's a fruit bread.

Halloween symbolizes the season of the harvest and the conclusion of summer. Fall or Autumn in the northern hemisphere is when the weather turns cool and cultures harvest their crops in preparation of winter. Many people claim it is their favorite season citing cooler weather, back to school, the beginning of the American Football season, and many other reasons. All in all it is a great time and remains an important part of the calendar year.
