How To Create A Homemade Graphic T Shirt Using Freezer Paper

By Dorothy Dixon

The graphic t shirt, in recent years, has become popular among young adults and teenagers alike. Typically the item is a cotton blend that features automobiles, famous quotes, cartoon characters, or another graphic on its front. Due to its increased popularity, the shirt can be pretty expensive, which is why a lot of people choose to instead make their own.

To make a t-shirt of your very own, gather up the supplies you will need to start. These will include a roll of freezer paper, an x-acto knife or scalpel, fabric paint, and a plain top. Usually, the butcher paper, another name for freezer paper, can be found in grocery stores near the aluminum foil and wax papers. The fabric paints can also be purchased at craft and hobby shops and come in a variety of colors.

First, decide on the particular design or picture that you wish to put on a tee. You will need to cut it out eventually so try not to choose a graphic that is too detailed for your initial try. After you've chosen, sketch or trace the picture onto the non wax side of your butcher paper.

Tape the freezer papers onto hard surfaces or cutting mats next and cut the designs out carefully with the scalpels or x-acto knifes. You will be making stencils so make sure to cut out only the appropriate part of the images. Be sure to keep the middle of letters, image's insides, and other important details as well, to make the image better, they should all be saved.

Turn on your iron and then place the stencil on the front of the shirt, matted side up. When you've chosen the best spot, iron over the stencil until all of the paper has sealed to your fabric.

The last step consists of simply painting over the stencil carefully in the color that you chose earlier. Once you're finished, set the item aside for a few hours and then peel the paper off once it has dried. Read more about: graphic t
